Advocates & Allies for Equity (AA4E) is an initiative in the office of the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs (VPFAA). The primary goal of the initiative is to promote equity on campus through education. A secondary goal is to lessen the burden of this work on our colleagues from underrepresented groups by encouraging our colleagues from overrepresented groups to do the work. Being within the Initiative for the Advancement of Women (IAW), our primary focus is on gender equity and its intersections with other identities and, as such, we also focus on recruiting men to do the work.

The Graduate Assistant for Student Engagement at the Center of Excellence for Women & Technology reports to the Assistant Director and works closely with the Center’s staff, student alliance teams, interns, as well as faculty and campus partners in this highly collaborative, mission driven team. The GA provides general coordination, administrative, and on-site support for the Center’s student programming, serves as an assistant instructor for the Emerging Scholars Research Experience for Undergraduate Women, as well as co-manages the research hackathon and campus-side research poster competition. The primary focus of this role is to develop means to elevate student engagement with the Center of Excellence for Women & Technology.

THE PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT CONSULTANT is one of four graduate assistants who work directly with fellow graduate students in the GradGrants Center, a graduate student service located in the Wells Library-BL. The Center is sponsored by The Indiana University Graduate School Bloomington and is available to enrolled graduate students at IUB. The consultants handle the day-to-day operations of the GradGrants Center and share training responsibilities (e.g., developing grant-writing content, working one-on-one with graduate students from all disciplines, presenting grant training workshops, preparing visual aids and materials, handling web and social media content). Our consultants assist students in their search for external funding sources and are available to work one-on-one with graduate students in discussing and critiquing their grant proposals.

The Center for the Study of the Middle East (CSME) in collaboration with the Eskenazi Museum of Art and other area studies centers in the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies seeks a Pathways Content Developer for the 2023-24 academic year. In collaboration with the Eskenazi Museum education and curatorial staff, interns will help develop digital tours ("Pathways") in Quest, the museum's new web application that is being designed for smartphone and computer use in the museum galleries as well as at home and in classrooms. The app supports audio, video, and/or textual guides to objects in the museum’s collection. Work details: $20/hour, 5 hours/week.

IU Cinema is seeking two Graduate Assistant Projectionists for the 2023-24 academic year. Student Projectionists work under the direct supervision of IU Cinema’s Technical Specialist and operate as part of a team to present digital cinema screenings. Projectionists also provide the technical support required for live events, classes, lectures, and other public events. These courses carry CASE Breadth of Inquiry Credit at the 100- and 200-levels. This is an excellent opportunity for advanced graduate students within the College of Arts and Sciences to gain teaching experience in a small class setting, exploring topics that might not fit departmental curricula. Successful applicants will receive their home department’s semester stipend, plus fee remission and health insurance. The Center for the Study of the Middle East (CSME) and the Center for the Study of Global Change (CGC) are hiring a program manager to assist with implementing a grant from Interfaith America (IA) for the project “Intercultural/Interfaith Conversations: Broadening Horizons at IU.”  IA provides grant funding to projects that encourage dialogue and understanding between different religious traditions.  The CSME and CGC Interfaith America grant proposes a series of events on the IU Bloomington campus in which representatives of different faiths will answer questions and engage in conversation with students and other members of the university community.  In the spring of 2023, an Intercultural Competency workshop will be held with an invited expert to facilitate participants’ ability to engage in and promote interfaith understanding.
