Graduate Assistant for Advocates and Allies for Equity

Monday, March 31, 2025

Advocates & Allies for Equity (AA4E) is an initiative in the office of the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs (VPFAA). The primary goal of the initiative is to promote equity on campus through education. A secondary goal is to lessen the burden of this work on our colleagues from underrepresented groups by encouraging our colleagues from overrepresented groups to do the work. Being within the Initiative for the Advancement of Women (IAW), our primary focus is on gender equity and its intersections with other identities and, as such, we also focus on recruiting men to do the work.

This assistantship works to support the AA4E initiative to educate a network of graduate student, staff, and faculty allies on campus. The person in this position will assume a graduate assistant role with the VPFAA, will report directly to the AA4E Director, and will work closely with the AA4E Leadership Team and the Associate Vice Provost who oversees the IAW.

· Schedule, organize, facilitate and evaluate workshops and related events.

· Develop content for graduate student-specific workshops and events to help grow the AA4E graduate student community.

· Interface with VPFAA communications staff to promote AA4E events and content broadly, especially to men.

· Commit to AA4E’s mission and more broadly the mission of the VPFAA to develop an equitable campus community.

· Serve as a AA4E role model on campus.

· Be an advocate for women and underrepresented groups.

· Schedule and attend regular AA4E Leadership Team meetings.

· Assist with collaborative projects with other VPFAA initiatives and other campus partners as needed.
