Collins Living-Learning Center invites advanced graduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences to submit course proposals for Fall 2023. Collins courses are vetted by resident undergraduates who design a curriculum for their peers. These courses carry CASE Breadth of Inquiry Credit at the 100- and 200-levels. This is an excellent opportunity for advanced graduate students within the College of Arts and Sciences to gain teaching experience in a small class setting, exploring topics that might not fit departmental curricula.
We invite proposals from across the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Collins Living-Learning Center emphasizes the pillars of self-government, sustainability, the arts, and humanities, so we especially welcome proposals engaging these themes. We additionally encourage courses that contribute to broadening the horizons of IU's undergraduates by engaging diverse cultures and societies. To support our links to the College, we also invite courses that address the 2023 Themester, Lux et Veritas | Light and Truth. Proposals related to sustainability may be eligible for additional compensation from the Integrated Program in the Environment, a co-supporter of our SustainCollins program.
The 3-credit Collins seminars range from between 14 and 16 students and meet at the Collins Living-Learning Center, which is fully equipped for multi-media teaching.
Successful applicants will receive their home department’s semester stipend, plus fee remission and health insurance. In addition, there is $200 to spend on materials or activities.
