Applications to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Distinguished Staff Fellowship (DSF) program are being accepted through Saturday, October 10, 2020 (5:00 p.m. EST). The program includes the Liane B. Russell, Alvin M. Weinberg, and Eugene P. Wigner Fellowships. The program cultivates future scientific leaders by awarding outstanding early-career scientists and engineers—who demonstrate success within their academic, professional, and technical areas—with resources and enriching research opportunities.
Liane B. Russell Fellowship - Russell Fellows primarily demonstrate competency in broad areas of biological sciences, biomolecular chemistry, computational biology, and environmental and ecosystem sciences.
Alvin M. Weinberg Fellowship - Weinberg Fellows generally align with the applied, experimental, and computational sciences and demonstrate competency in areas such as chemistry and chemical engineering, radiochemistry, materials science and engineering, nuclear science and engineering, and manufacturing science and engineering.
Eugene P. Wigner Fellowship - Wigner Fellows generally align with the fundamental sciences and demonstrate competency in areas such as advanced materials, chemistry, computational science, neutron scattering, nuclear physics, and plasma and fusion energy sciences.
DSF Fellows are expected to
-Conduct scientific research of the highest quality and impact, enabling them to become leaders in their fields
-Establish the foundation for a long-term career at ORNL
Applicants must have received their doctoral degree in a STEM field before they begin their fellowship and can be no more than 5 years beyond receiving their highest technical degree when they apply.
Current ORNL postdoctoral researchers & staff members are not eligible to apply.
