Title: Outreach Graduate Research Assistant

The Institute for European Studies (EURO) at IU promotes knowledge of Europe and the European Union through education, scholarship, and public outreach. Our academic degree programs train specialists committed to strengthening transatlantic ties through careers in public service, business, research, and teaching. EURO’s mission also takes us away from the IU Bloomington campus. It is our duty to increase knowledge and awareness of Europe and the European Union in the local community and beyond. We have a variety of resources, programming, and funding opportunities for K-12 educators looking to bring Europe into the classroom, and our relationship with local businesses and IU’s Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) has created a better understanding of the European business environment.
Job Summary
The Outreach Graduate Research Assistant is responsible for outreach support for programming and coordination of educational and public outreach projects, including event organization, preparation of text for outreach materials, publicity coordination, content development for EURO’s Across the Pond blog posts on European current events, and management of real-time K-12 outreach presentations on the CILC learning platform. The position requires 20 hours of work for 40 weeks between August 2020 and May 2021, with possibility of annual renewal through 2022.
Required Qualifications
Academic interest in and/or knowledge of European area studies. Excellent writing and editing skills. Ability to use social media tools and maintain EURO’s growing listservs. Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with IU Bloomington academic programs. Working knowledge of content management systems. Knowledge of a European language or languages. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite CS 4 and/or CS5.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Walking, standing and sitting for long periods of time.
Advertised Salary Range
.50 FTE 20 hours per week graduate student with 50% tuition remission/$16,000 stipend
