Ethnographic Collections Graduate Assistant
Position Description
The Indiana University Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology is currently hiring a Graduate Assistant for the 2022 calendar year. The GA will work with the IUMAA Registrar and other staff responsible for oversight of the museum’s Ethnographic Collections. The principal assignment will be assisting with the transfer of Ethnographic Collections back into the museum building from various storage facilities. Tasks include unpacking, inventorying, and assessing materials; establishing item locations within the storage facility; assisting with creation of suitable storage containers or mounts; and inventory of established locations. The GA may also assist with the supervision and training of hourly staff or students as needed.
Eligibility
Indiana University graduate students must be enrolled full time for the 2022 calendar year. All graduate students with applicable skills are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have very good organizational skills and work ethic and the ability to accurately record data.
Compensation
Compensation is an $18,000 stipend disbursed in 12 monthly payments, and health insurance coverage from January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022. The position requires a 20-hour per week employment commitment during the calendar year. No fee remission is available for this position.
