This position has support responsibility for both internal and external outreach activities; serves as the Center’s liaison to the International Outreach Council; coordinates and facilitates the Lunch and a Lecture Series; recruits advanced students and faculty experts for outreach programming both on campus and for community constituencies; prepares weekly staff meeting agendas. This position assists with various aspects involved in the planning and coordinating of events and conferences, specifically travel coordination, room reservations, and preparing itineraries, program schedules and support materials; may also be responsible for social media outreach and publicizing Center activities. This GA will also share responsibility for tracking data for evaluations associated with grant reports.
Desired Experience and Skills:
Applicants must have an academic research interest in the Middle East, and preferably have knowledge of Arabic, but other regional languages are acceptable as well. These positions require someone who can work with CSME staff and fellow GAs in a team setting, as well as the ability to take charge of projects and work independently. Applicants should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be willing to perform a wide range of tasks as needed, assisting the Center’s Director and Associate Director as necessary. The GAs should be proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with IU computer systems (Buy.IU, Egencia, KFS, etc.) preferred.
