Job description: Join the editing team at the Assistive Technology and Accessibility Center (ATAC – atac.iu.edu) in their role of supporting students, faculty, and staff with disabilities to be successful at Indiana University. We work to make sure books, e-texts, and other course materials are accessible and usable for individuals with disabilities.
Successful candidates will learn about issues that determine a document’s accessibility, how to produce highly usable documents for readers with significant vision impairment, and how to convert inaccessible documents to an accessible format while supporting students in a higher education environment. Specifically, this job entails editing math equations in LaTex or MathType and describing images as part of a process that adapts textbooks and other course materials for use by students with vision impairments.
Note: For students who demonstrate outstanding editing skills, teamwork, and work ethic in this position, there will be an opportunity to be considered for a graduate assistantship position. The next open assistantship runs from August 2020 to May 2021, and includes tuition remission and a stipend.
