Job Summary:
The Research Assistant will support research projects by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data. This role involves literature reviews, data analysis, managing project logistics, and assisting with preparing reports and presentations. The Research Assistant will work closely with lead researchers, other team members, and collaborators to ensure the success of research activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Collection and Analysis:
- Gather data using various methods such as literature reviews and laboratory experiments
- Accessing publicly available data sources and electronic health records.
- Analyze data using Statistical software such as STATA and R on personal computers or cloud platforms.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and ethics.
- Literature Review:
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to support research projects.
- Summarize findings and present them in an organized manner.
- Project Management:
- Manage the logistics of research projects, including scheduling and coordination.
- Maintain detailed and organized records of all research activities.
- Report and Presentation Preparation:
- Assist in the preparation of research reports, manuscripts, and presentations.
- Ensure all documents and presentations are accurate, well-organized, and professionally formatted.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with the lead researcher, team members, and collaborators.
- Communicate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Computer science, Informatics, Economics,) or Biology (including bioinformatics)
- Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience in a research setting is highly desirable.
- If applying as a biologist, wet laboratory experiment experience with cell lines or animal models is preferred. Bioinformatics experience is a plus.
- If applying as a quantitative researcher, experience with data analysis using publicly available data or electronic health records is preferred.
- Preferred Skills:
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, python) and data analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Understanding of research ethics and regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
