The Office of Engaged Learning invites applicants for a graduate assistant. This is a 3-month appointment (~20 hours per week), beginning on or after May 12, 2025. The hourly pay is $16. The intent is for the Summer Graduate Assistant to carry over into the 25-26 school year. This is a 10-month appointment (20 hours per week), beginning on August 25, 2025. The stipend is $24,000 and fee remission is included. The fee remission will cover 12 credits during Fall 2025, 12 credits during Spring 2026, and 6 during Summer 2026. The successful candidate will work closely with the director of IU Undergraduate Research (IUUR) and other members of the Engaged Learning team to support our unit’s summer research programs and academic year activities. IUUR is committed to ensuring that vibrant research and creative experiences are accessible for all interested IU students. The Graduate Assistant will also work closely with the WSTEM LLC Director during the academic year to assist in program development and mentorship.
With guidance and mentorship from the IUUR Director, Engaged Learning staff, and the WSTEM LLC Director the successful applicant will assist with the following duties:
- Planning, developing, and implementing programming related to undergraduate research, women in stem, and creative activity.
- Administering existing undergraduate research programs and events.
- Planning, developing, and implementing programming related to academic, professional, and community development for students in the research programs
- Planning the Summer Symposium to showcase student research
- With guidance from the IUUR Director, supervise Research Peer Mentors during the summer and Research Ambassadors during the Fall and Spring
- Others as appropriate.
Desired experiences and skills: - Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education and engaged learning and/or research interests that relate to undergraduate research and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity in higher education.
- College teaching and/or undergraduate mentorship.
- Ability to manage competing demands and complex projects.
