General Description:
The Board of Aeons is the Indiana University President’s student advisory board, consisting of 12 highly talented and carefully selected undergraduate students on the IU Bloomington campus. The Advisor to the Board of Aeons manages all aspects of the board. This includes, but is not limited to:
· Recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training new members of the Board of Aeons
· Mentoring and advising the Aeons on their research, assessment projects, reports, and presentations
· Organizing the Aeons office and weekly meetings, including room reservations, meals, transportation, billing, and other administrative tasks
· Formal event planning
· Working with IU Foundation colleagues on matters related to alumni engagement and fundraising
· Maintaining strong relationships with internal and external constituencies, including arranging meetings with Aeons and IU Administrators
· Communications tasks include writing and distributing surveys; maintaining the Aeons email account; and designing and distributing the Aeons newsletter
The Advisor to the Board is expected to execute their responsibilities with a high degree of independence, initiative, and judgment. This position handles sensitive data and must maintain the utmost standards of confidentiality and integrity.
This is a 20-hour per week Student Academic Appointment (SSA) position. Hours are flexible and will include nights and weekends. Ideally, the advisor will spend about 5–10 hours per week in the president’s office during regular business hours, with the remaining hours coordinated around Board of Aeons meetings and related matters. This position collaborates closely with an appointed faculty advisor who offers guidance and mentorship to the Aeons as they develop and execute their research projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of IU policies, organizational structures, and decision-making structures in higher education; experience with basic institutional research and assessment; comfort working with very high achieving students; comfort working in a traditional president’s office structure; work will be completed largely without supervision.

The Board is a 12-member student research and advisory organization that works closely with the president of Indiana University, offering thoughtful and informed student perspectives on campus issues. Compensation and Details:
12-month SSA position, $28,800 stipend ($2,400/month), up to 30 credit hours fee remission, and student health insurance. The ideal candidate will serve in the role for 2 years. Preferred start date is June 1, 2025.
