Yumeng Liang
Yumeng Liang is a Ph.D. Candidate in Higher Education and Student Affairs at Indiana University Bloomington. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor’s degree from Tianjin Normal University.
As an international researcher, Yumeng's scholarly pursuits center on enhancing the international student experience through the lens of cultural integration. Her previous research includes in-depth studies on international student sense of belonging and classroom discussion dynamics. She has presented her work at notable conferences such as AERA, where she has contributed significantly to discussions on student inclusion and equity in higher education.
In addition to her academic research, Yumeng is deeply involved in institutional research endeavors, where she meticulously analyzes institutional data to better understand the intricate dynamics within campus environments. This work not only informs her research but also plays a crucial role in supporting administrative decision-making processes that impact student success and retention.
Looking ahead, Yumeng aspires to explore further the multifaceted realms of identity, culture, and student success. Her dissertation focuses on studying the attitudes of Chinese international and US domestic students towards AI. This research seeks to uncover how cultural backgrounds shape students' perceptions and interactions with AI technology, aiming to help higher education institutions understand and cater to the diverse technological needs of their students. Drawing from her own international background, she aims to contribute to the development of more inclusive educational practices that better serve diverse student populations
