The IU Undergraduate Research Office invites applicants for a graduate assistant. This is a 10-month appointment (20 hours per week), beginning on August 24, 2026 and includes a stipend (amount is being finalized) and a fee remission. The fee remission will cover 12 credits during Fall 2026, 12 credits during Spring 2027, and 6 during Summer 2027. Preference will be given to those who can start in May to assist with our IUUR Summer Research program as a part-time hourly employee.
The successful candidate will work closely with the IU Undergraduate Research (IUUR) Program Manager and Faculty Director, as well as other members of the Experiential Learning team, on initiatives related to undergraduate research and creative activity. This is an exciting time to join IUUR, as the office is actively developing new initiatives, including the Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) program, an expanded Summer Research Program, and new academic-year programming and outreach.
IUUR is committed to ensuring that vibrant research and creative experiences are accessible to all interested IU students.
With guidance and mentorship from the IUUR staff, the successful applicant will assist with the following duties:
- Promote awareness of undergraduate research opportunities and their benefits across campus through programming and outreach events
- Train and supervise IU Undergraduate Research Ambassadors.
- Assist with planning and implementation of the IUUR Summer Research Program and the Undergraduate Symposium for Creative Activity and Research (USCAR).
- Maintain current content for the IUUR website and UR Resources Canvas Page
- Establish collaborative relationships with undergraduate research (UR) partners across campus to support efforts connecting students to transformative opportunities
- Conduct background research and support grant writing and other scholarly activities
- Others as appropriate
Desired Experiences and Skills:
- Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education and experiential learning and/or research interests that relate to undergraduate research and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity in higher education
- Experience with college teaching and/or undergraduate mentorship
- Experience with grant writing and research
- Ability to manage competing demands and complex projects.
- Ability to work in-person in the Bison Student Commons, Briscoe Quad and other locations across campus
