The Office of Admissions is a department under the Office of Enrollment Services and the front-facing department to the public for undergraduate recruitment for the Indiana University Bloomington campus. The Office of Admissions is responsible for recruiting the freshman class each year, counseling prospective students and their families about the admissions process, providing accurate information to the public about our recruiting requirements and standards, and marketing Indiana University Bloomington.
Admissions Counselor: Develop, coordinate, implement, and participate in recruitment efforts and admissions-related initiatives that serve to advance the undergraduate enrollment goals of the Indiana University Bloomington campus. Represent IUB at on-campus recruiting events and off-site visit programs. Actively collaborate with campus partners. Coordinate and conduct daily information sessions and campus tours for prospective students and their families; meet individually as needed. Serve as an on-campus point of contact for prospective students, families, and counselors in support of the office’s regional recruiters. Provide complex information on policies, procedures, exceptions, reasons for admission and denial of admission according to policy and procedure set forth by the IUB Office of Admissions. Collect, monitor, and interpret data about student enrollment indicators and make recommendations to senior leadership team.
a. Students will interact with prospective college students and their families through individual and group counseling appointments/sessions, both on and off-campus.
b. Coordinate special projects within the Diversity Recruitment and Outreach team.
c. Conduct research on best practices and trends within the field of admission and/or college counseling to be presented to admission staff during staff meetings, retreats, and workshops.
Must have completed a Bachelor’s degree and be currently enrolled in or received admission to an Indiana University Graduate Program on the Bloomington campus. Student should be organized, responsible, and dependable and have the ability to work independently; possess analytical problem solving and decision making skills; and be champion for IU and have a positive enthusiastic attitude toward their IU experience.
This position be paid at $10.50 per hour for up to 25 hours per week.
